Imagine turning one random house into the most talked about address in London for a single day.
No social media, no news headlines, just chaos.
That's exactly what happened here on Burners Street.
Theodore Hook made a name for himself writing rowdy comedies, but he was just as famous for the chaos he caused off stage.
His real talent was practical jokes.
In October 1810, aged just 22, he teamed up with two close friends to launch his most ridiculous scheme yet.
There was just one step to their plan.
Write letters, lots of them, then sit back and watch.
These letters appear to be from a woman called Mrs Tottenham, the tenant at number 54 Burners Street, just off Tottenham Court Road, right in the heart of London.
Some said she wanted to discuss the sale of an estate, while others were told she needed transport, requesting four horses and a carriage to bring her to Bath.
