大学生学费由谁承担

There are those that think students enrolling in university should bear the expense, as they believe that having a tertiary academic education solely profits the individual, and not society, an opinion I disagree with for the following reasons.

The sole reason for the argument that students should pay the whole cost of their university education rests on the premise that the graduate will not have a beneficial effect on the society in which they live.

This premise, however, is demonstrably false, as that would require a belief that the individual is detached from society in all ways, including work, finance, and their mentality, which is clearly not the case.

Thus, their university experience, the knowledge they learn, and the economic benefit they may reap from being educated, must, in some way, translate as having an influence on society, one that is hopefully beneficial.

These benefits regard a university graduate's career on the one hand, and the evolutionary development of a person's attitudes and behavior on the other.

If it were not for engineering degrees, for example, society would not benefit from the bridges, tunnels, and infrastructure that safely serve the community.

Furthermore, since a graduate has their mind shaped by passing through the rigors of university, they inevitably grow into a more civilized person, characteristics of which are often transmitted to the larger society.

Unquestionably, therefore, university not only benefits the individual in the way of personal growth and finances, but it also has a constructive impact on their respective society, and as such, a portion of their study expenses should be paid by the state.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that graduating from a higher education institute can be of immense value to the individual both mentally and financially.

However, in my opinion, it is clear that society is also advantageously affected by this university experience, and subsequently, the state should have some responsibility to help pay for a student's tuition costs.
