Every summer, my family and I travel to Canada to visit friends and family, but this year we flew via the East Coast.
Our ultimate destination was Toronto and my hometown of London, which I lovingly referred to as fake London.
But first, we had a stopover to see family near Montreal, which meant we needed a way to get from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Montreal, Quebec.
A flight would take under two hours and cost a couple of hundred euros per person.
So, of course, we took the 24-hour train instead, which ended up coming in about two and a half hours late.
I should say that we took this train because we wanted to avoid unnecessary flights and choose a more environmentally friendly method of travel.
But let's face it, you and I both know it's because I'm a train-loving masochist.
Going into this journey, I wasn't expecting much.
I've taken Via Rail several times and I'll link to some relevant videos in the description.
But all of those previous trips were in the Windsor to Quebec City corridor on trains I've described as having all the pain of flying while taking longer than driving.
