Something that's really unique here at LAIKA is the fact that we make our own fabrics here on site.
We've got one fabric in the film that was off the shelf, and that's Prue's socks.
Everything we make is hand sewn in house, in order to make it in this world, and make it believable.
The loose framework of Wildwood is that Prue takes her brother to the park.
While they're in the park, a murder of crows swoop down, and abduct her baby brother.
And everything that follows is Prue's mission to save her brother.
I'm the costume designer here at LAIKA, and I've been working in stop frame at LAIKA for 20 years since Coraline, and that's when LAIKA acquired the Wildwood book, so I guess with our experience in all the movies we've made to date, we've slowly been gathering information, and with all of that, we've grown and our expertise has really grown with it, and we are now at the point where we were able to do that story justice.
The difference is in making costume for stop frame is the scale.
You can see here, these characters are very small.
They're one fifth scale, exactly.
